Sony WF-1000XM3 Earbuds Review
Sony is not new in the headphones business. In fact, it is one of the most popular and most trusted brands when it comes to electronics. Although at one point, Sony failed to live up to people’s expectations when they released the infamous WF-SP700N wireless earbuds, that did not stop the company from launching a “new and improved” fully wireless earbuds – the Sony WF-1000XM3. Is this version indeed an upgrade from the previous edition? We are about to find out.
Sony WF-1000XM3 Earbuds Review – Packaging and Design
The new Sony WF-1000XM3’s design is love at first sight. The design is not screaming fancy, yet it so sophisticated and elegant that you’d want to wear it anytime, anywhere, whatever the occasion. The new headphones come in a simple but uber sleek black or silver body with copper accents, making it even more stylish. I honestly had a difficult time deciding between the black and the silver design, but after days of contemplation, I opted for the silver one. No regrets.
As expected, the charging case is equally stylish as the earbuds itself. What I loved about it is its unique and very modern design. It can be a bit bulkier for some people, but personally, I think it is just the perfect size given what it can do. It is a super compact charging case that can charge my earbuds quickly as expected – so convenient!
When you open the case, the headphones are neatly arranged. You’ll not encounter any issues when you detach the earbuds to use as well as when you put them back. To tell the truth, I find it really satisfying everytime I hear a click when my earbuds magnetically attach to the case when I put them back. Simple joys sophisticated gears.
Sony WF-1000XM3 Earbuds Review – Performance
Let’s first talk about the sound quality. In all fairness, my experience listening to music with the Sony wireless earbuds was nothing but remarkable. To make the sound even more appealing to your personal taste, simply download the Sony Headphones Connect App on your mobile or music device, and you’ll be able to modify the settings of the sound, so you have full control! The sound quality is really good – audio is powerful, clear, and rich – making it an excellent way to enjoy listening to music and watching videos.
As for its noise-cancelling feature, the Sony WF-1000XM3 Earbuds still has a long way to go. Although the noise-cancelling feature is pretty decent, it doesn’t cancel out as much ambient noise as you’d want. As mentioned, I loved using it for listening to music, podcasts and watching videos, but I found a drawback: the Sony WF-1000XM3 Earbuds was not designed to target customers who often use earbuds for calling. If you are one of them, you might want to consider this factor before purchasing it. When I used it with my Samsung phone, I was able to do some calls; after I switched to iPhones, the call quality is almost impossible to make.
On a single charge, I was able to enjoy using it for about 5 or 6 hours. However, whenever I don’t use it I put it back into it’s case, it charges and it’s always full battery.. You might be wondering if it charges wirelessly as well. Sadly, it doesn’t have this feature yet, but it won’t be surprising if the next versions would already highlight wireless charging.
Sony Wireless Earbuds Review – Final Verdict
If not for the calling issues, I think the Sony Wireless Earbuds has everything you need in wireless earbuds. I don’t mind some ambient noise sneaking in, because I understand that that’s the price you pay if you don’t want an over ear headphones. Of course, that’s just me. If you personally prefer headphones that will totally cancel out noise, then this brand or the wireless earbuds in general, may not be for you.
Despite the points mentioned above, I am confident to recommend the Sony WF-1000XM3 Earbuds. I think it is one of the best wireless earbuds I’ve tried. The audio is excellent, the design is so stylish, and the features are what you’d look for in decent wireless earbuds.
This is just the beginning. I’m pretty sure we’ll be expecting more (and better) from Sony. I think this edition is good enough as it is, but there is still a lot to improve. I am looking forward to reviewing the new Sony wireless earbuds models in the future! I hope you enjoyed this Sony WF-1000XM3 Earbuds review!

Summary
Good: The design of the Sony WF-1000XM3 Earbuds is undeniably great. The sound quality is also amazing so I sincerely enjoyed listening to music or podcasts with it. I find the noise cancellation feature decent enough, and the battery life good as well.
Not so good: For me, the major drawback of this model is the poor quality of calls, so I don’t recommend using them for calling. Another thing that might need a big improvement is the touch controls, and others might find it inconvenient to adjust the volume on a separate device. Moreover, people who love to sweat might not be happy to know that the Sony WF-1000XM3 is not water-resistant.
