Fitbit Flex 2 Review
Fitbit Flex 2 is an upgrade of the original Fitbit Flex. This smaller, thinner and sleeker wristband fitness tracker is more up-to-date than the previous one. It is water resistant and some rudimentary smartphone notifications were added. Fitbit Flex 2 helps you live a balanced healthy life by tracking your all-day activity, exercise, sleep, and weight. You can dress it up too with customizable accessories.

Packaging and Design
Fitbit Flex 2 is 30% smaller than its predecessor. This flexible Fitbit wristband is light, thin and comfortable so it looks good even beside a smartwatch or an analog timepiece. The band and the straps are interchangeable so a wide range of colors is available to choose from like black, lavender, magenta, and navy, so you can easily find one to your taste. The band now features a textured pattern making it less plain but doesn’t feel course against your skin. It can now also be dressed up much more like an item of jewelry so it can be great for anyone looking for a discreet tracker. The positioning of the progress LEDs is now vertical and much easier to see at a glance.
Performance
Everything went well for me so far, at the of writing this Fitbit Flex 2 review. Fitbit Flex 2 is the first Fitbit designed to be worn in the shower, pool or even the ocean with a water resistance rating up to 50 meters or about 164 feet. Flex 2 has the ability to automatically detect activities such as running and swimming. It also has this easy-to-use mobile app that automatically detects swim workouts after a default of 15 minutes. The time setting can be changed according to your desired or required time workout. You can enter a pool’s length using the app. It calculates and records swim workout data like the number of pool lengths you swam, how long you swam and how many calories you burned. Flex 2 is compatible with IOS, Android and Windows devices and connects over Bluetooth. You can update its software once you pair, set up a profile and you can set your various goals as all of your activities sync with the app and you can keep track of it all from the dashboard. Your options are limited, of course, since you only have that row of LEDs. You can also receive messages, not just SMS but facebook messenger or WhatsApp messages through vibrate mode. It can also notify you as the Flex 2 top and bottom LEDs will light up in white and blue shades. The same is true for incoming calls, Flex 2 band will vibrate and the LEDs will light up one after the other in a wave pattern.
Verdict
At the of writing this Fitbit Flex 2 review, I can say that it is a very good choice for people who are after something simple, as well as those who are in need of a tracker that is water-resistant. It’s a decent improvement over the original flex. It’s a fitness tracker that is so light that you can forget you’re wearing it. It’s comfortable enough that you can wear it 24/7 even in the shower without even noticing it’s there. The only thing that holds this tracker back is battery life. We would ideally like a simple tracker like this last a week rather than 4-5 days. This relatively low priced tracker is ideal for beginners or not so serious fitness-fans because of its limited functionality. Flex 2 is just a basic fitness tool and other than notification light has no real smartwatch features at all. Still, Fitbit Flex 2 is a basic activity tracker for the money.

Summary
Good: Fitbit Flex 2 is a quality fitness tracker at a competitive price. It is an upgraded version of its entry-level Flex wearable. It is light and very comfortable to wear. It’s water resistant so you can take a shower or swim without having to remove it. It records your swim workout data and computes the calories you burn. All your steps are automatically counted once Flex 2 wrapped around your wrist and since it’s too light you can largely forget about it. You can also replace the band with jazzier versions as well as the colors of your strap.
Not so good: Fitbit Flex 2 doesn’t have the capability to count the flight of stairs you climb because it lacks an altimeter. Measuring floors climbed is a good motivator to take the stairs instead of the lift and is an easy way to incorporate cardiovascular exercises throughout your day. It also lacks a screen and uses LEDs to show information. It’s smaller, thinner and sleeker than the original but at the cost of battery life. The battery life is not great and is slow to charge.
